Websites to buy books

Another question which people ask me is where to buy books. I usually buy online as having a very active boy has limit me to go shopping anywhere!

These will be :-

(i) http://www.acmamall.com/ - this is very good but the only thing is that it usually takes a month for them to deliver. Variety of books is very good and everything is in RM. Of course, there is also Amazon but I have never buy anything from overseas through mail as I am afraid of our local customs. Malaysia Boleh! :)

(ii) http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/indexohb.cgi?AREA=05 - Kinokuniya bookstore in KLCC. Very good and efficient. Postal rates are very cheap - flat RM8.

(iii) http://www.canaanland.com.my/ - mostly Christian books.

(iv) http://www.caterpillarhouse.com/store/ - can get good children books

Methods of Education which I know

Would you call this Methods? Hmm...I am not sure. But that is one which caught my eye, It was introduced to by a friend of mine (of which I am very grateful!).

It is a home-schooling method called Charlotte Mason. However it is not necessarily for home-schooling only but her whole idea of how we should guide our children's growing years especially in the area of developing of habits. The following website will explain and resources are free. Of course, there are recommended books which you need to buy.

Her original books can be found here. A bit lenghty though.

A nearby blogger who applies the method - Teaching Our Own.

Another method of education which has taken the country by whirl wind is right brain education. Currently there are 3 schools in Malaysia - all just as expansive - approximately Rm100 per hour - only once a week.

(i) Shichida http://www.shichidamethod.com/
(ii) Hegeru http://www.heguru.com.my/
(iii) Tweedlewink http://www.rightbrainkids.com/

Their names would let you see that the first 2 are from Japan while the 3rd one is from US. From what I can understand, Pamela Sue Hickein went over to Japan and did some study with the founder of the Shihida method. Go to the website and you can get a free e-book. She also has a book called Right Brain Education which really did a good job in explaining the whole right brain concept.

For more of right brain, you can read a fellow bloggers Babylicious and Life Long Sharing.

Things to do with your toddler

Recently I was asked by 2 friends where to take their toddlers - playgroups, etc...So thought that I will post it here for future reference.

Playschool:-

(i) Lara's place http://www.rix.com.my/Lara.html - never tried this before but it is one of the few places which allows mummy and child to go in.
(ii) Ibu - http://ibufamily.org/ - a lot of expats mummies here. They are supposed to be meeting at Gardens International School now if I am not mistaken. Contact them to find out.
(iii) Chiltern House - this very expensive. http://www.juliagabriel.com.my/chiltern/index.php

Others activities which allows mother to accompany child will be:-

(i) Musichaus http://www.musikhaus.com.my/
(ii) Kindermusik - got one free trial. http://www.simmusic.com/kindermusik-about.htm
(iii) Kidz Sports
(iv) Gymboree
(v) Flykidz - this one going to open a new centre at Sunway Giza http://www.fly-kidz.com

These are what I know so far :)....
