Milestone

This has got to be a milestone! Ben and I managed to watch a movie today - Shrek- The Final Chapter!

What happened was I wanted to bring Ben to Critterland which is an in-door playground measuring 10,000 square feet, nearby Mines Shopping Centre. Unfortunately when we reach there, it was closed due to upgrading works. So disappointed and since we were already there, I took Ben to Mines Shopping Centre instead. There was nothing much to see there and the cruise was quite expensive at RM30.
We spotted a cineplex and I asked Ben whether he was interested to watch a movie. He was! I was a bit unsure as this will require him to sit down for 2 hours! He insisted and it cost me RM13. We went in 20 minutes earlier and the lady taking care of the entrance was nice to allow us to go in. So I showed him the cineplex entrance and he was a bit afraid. He kept thinking that the seats from a distance were "dolphins".....slowly I managed to lure him into the cineplex and showed him that it was actually seats.
Since there was no one else in the cineplex, he was a bit nervous and asked whether we could wait outside which was fine with me. Then when the advertisments started, again, the nice lady informed us and we went in to watch. Ben was quite comfortable the whole time and asked a lot of questions instead! I was a bit afraid that it will disturb the other audiences but there were not many people. I know that if we were to disturb, they can move to another seat.
The only thing was that Ben kept complaining cold. And I knew that it was impossible since I was in t-shirt and shorts and I was pretty comfortable. Before long, he fell asleep instead! Haha...
And that was the end of our first movie trip.

Wearing Clothes

Where did the time go????? I am also not sure. Ben is almsot 3 and a half year old. And he can put on his clothes already.

Been quite some time since I blog. However there is something wrong with my line - everything has slowed down so much!!! I can only upload one photo at a time. Terrible.

Tired Boy

Lately the weather was quite hot, so went to buy thicker curtains to stop the sunlight from coming in. Ben actually found this lovely red "hairy" chair and wanted to put on an apron to sit on it! Then he pretend to fall asleep. Yah...the funny things that our boy love to do.
Ben has been attending a Chinese playschool on top of his Hegeru. It is quite heavy in terms of cost since both will cost us RM800 per month! So will be stopping Hegeru soon since it is just an hour a week. Very expensive.
But in terms of what he can do, we are quite happy that he is currently adding Chinese words into his vocabulary. He can say in Mandarin - mouth, ear, nose and eyes. And in terms of recognition, he can recognise "ren", "pa pa" and "ma ma". But most importantly for us, both the Chinese playschool and Hegeru gives him exposure to other kids. We can see the difference in him as I am happy to see that he actually makes friends in his Chinese playschool. Both boys will shout "BYE BYE" to each other! :)...
In terms of letters - he can recognise capital letters but not small letters yet.
In terms of numbers - he can recognise up to 20. My target will be for him to recognise up to 100.
In terms of speaking - it is pretty clear. We are pretty surprised with his reasoning sometimes. Example today, house is undergoing renovations now and my husband asked whether he would like to help the 2 workers. And Ben replied, "No thank you as I am not a builder since I dont have tools!" Can you believe that???
Food - he is still a picky eater unfortunately. Keeping only to rice, sausages, chocolate cereal and anything sweet. However he seemed to prefer outside food. :(......
Milk - I have been trying hard to stop milk bottle for him since his tooth decay is really BADDDD. At first, I was expecting serious fight-back from him - shouting and crying, etc....but actually it was not that difficult at all. One has to be patience and get use to his screaming, etc...then divert his attention (sigh...tv). I should have known better and stop his milk bottle much earlier. I have been trying to replace milk into cup but not successful.
Behaviour - he is still very active boy. Running up and down. :)...I guess Ben will not be Ben if he stops running around. I guess those overseas trips will have to wait a while.

My Engine Driver

Thought that I better put up the pictures now before I get too busy again. These are pictures of Ben being a engine driver. You can see him choo-choo-ing with his Thomas and Percy set. I tell you, he knows all the names of the engines from no.1 to 10. My husband and I cannot differentiate between the engines!
For example there are 2 blue engines - Thomas and Gordon. We really could not see the difference until upon close look, you can see the facial expression are different. Thomas is sort of younger while Gordon is older! Ha ha! .......

My Sweety Pie

Sigh, the other day when he was having fever and ulcer, he really drove me nuts! When he woke up, he cry. When he sleep, he cry. At night, he got up crying 4-5 times! I thought of sending him to baby sitter. Until I found out that he was having ulcers. I guess I will cry too if I have ulcers in my mouth. I will be in so bad mood.
Lousy mummy!
After 2 years of taking care of him, I am still so impatient. His crying is really loud and irritating. I guess I just lose it! Sometimes I wish that there was a pill that I could swallow which will turn me into a sweet mother! He He...
Anyway am pretty happy with the speedy recovery for Ben. I believed that it was due to the Amway Chewable Vitamin C. I have tried many other products before but saw the speedy recovery after he took this. But cheapo mummy only give when sick as it is pretty expensive. Sorry baby...I guess I will be investing in more of these in the coming future which will make my Amway distributor, Yvonne, very happy to hear this!

"Tuh Doh"

Been quite some time since I did any posting. Getting lazy and also pretty busy at home. Ben is as usual, pretty active and I tend to take the opportunity when he is asleep to take a nap, get ready dinner or do housework. Just so much to do.

Then I realise, oh wow, it will be almost a month since the last post! Wow, time pass so fast. And it is almost half a year. What have I achieve...? Hmmm....no weight lost and not much time spent with God either. Sigh, there goes resolutions.

Recent developments - swine flu. Pretty scary when you hear about it as it seemed to be a repeat of the SARS a few years ago. I guess that would mean less travelling for everyone. Hong Kong has already confirmed a case. Closer to home, Ben and Jack recently came down with fever but the worse part was that both of them had sores in their mouth. We were really worried that it could be hand and mouth disease which once I goggled on the internet, it seemed it is normal to occur in Sarawak each year during the first half of the year! Why??? Dont know, no one seems to give the explanation. Thankfully, my paed has confirmed that it is not viral and instead it could be because he put his dirty hands into his mouth. Later when I heard that Jack has also developed the same fever and ulcers in the mouth, sigh....it could be from the playschool we are attending. Better news is that as of today, both are doing well. Ben's ulcer are totally heal and as usual, he is still running about.
On a more lighter note, Ben's favourite is tractors or diggers. He has always called them Tuh Doh...and I have been trying to stop by at a nearby construction site to let him have a close look. So here are some of the pictures.
He loves trucks too. Look at him getting so excited and he will scream at the top of his voice "Tuh Doh" , "Tuh Doh".....as you can see, his Thomas train still in his hands......
There you go...the tractor hard at work!

Milestone - December 8th 2008

These are some photos of Ben for the past few months. Was quite busy so did not have time to put them up. Will try to do some updating later. As you can see, he is really growing up quite fast.
Teeth - already 16! Trying hard to brush his teeth but usually he does not allow me to do so. Sigh. So sometimes can see bits of carrot on his front teeth.
Milk - Still about 4-5 bottles of 160-200ml each time. Still loves milk and those Pediasure milk can sure do not come cheap. He also has a tendency to bite the teats of his milk bottles that each teat will last about a month. Hard to find Advent teats so have recently tried out Tollyjoy and Japlo which is so much cheaper. Advent is like RM22 for a pair and the other is about RM5-6 for a pair!
Books - Love to read books about things like trains, tractors, heavy equipment.
Toys - Thomas Train, Ikea train tracks ( he fall asleep with his black colour train in his hands), Bob Builder tractors specifically Rolly and Scoop.
Favourite shows - Thomas Train, Bob Builder, Barney and Mickey Mouse (he loves doing the hot-dog dance where he will flap his hands up and down)
Words - He has actually managed to say his own name already about a week ago - early December 2008. His father asked him what is his name - he will reply in his soft spoken way - Ven......hehe. other words - Tis for train, Tuh doh for tractor (dont know how he came about this!), ball, oh oh for dog, bus, car.

Play - loves to go around in his yellow colour car. He will zoom around in it. His legs will push, push and push and then he will put up his legs as the car zoom on. It is amazing that he learnt to do all those by himself.

More potty training

I have almost given up on his potty training as when I kept showing him the potty, he will keep running away from it. And then piss somewhere else instead! I have almost used up the kitchen paper rolls like no need money!

Imagine my surprise when one day, he kept trying to get my attention in the kitchen. Sometimes after his afternoon nap, I throw away his diapers (or he will take it out himself!) and let him run around without his diaper. This one afternoon as I was pretty busy preparing the vegetables (please do remind me never to buy asparagus, it is so difficult to peel off the skin!).....he kept asking me to follow him. So ok...I wash my hands and follow him...and guess what he showed me? His potty with his shit!!! And this is all without me telling him or remind me....I am so proud! Haha...
Imagine how my life has changed .... so happy with a potty of shit! haha.....
I quickly take a pict of this but phew, it sure smellls bad! And sigh, the cleaning up, plopping it into the toilet bowl, etc...thinking that maybe in the future, I will layer it with the kitchen towel instead. Any suggestions?
