A Visit to the Zoo during First Mid Term Break 2009

This is really a long over-due blog. When I realise that it the second mid term holidays is just around the corner , ohmigosh.....I have yet to blog about our first visit to the zoo during the first mid term break.

I choose the holidays to bring Ben to the zoo as we will be able to join the school children crowd to the zoo. It will really be boring to go to the zoo and seeing all the animals by ourselves!! It has been years since I visited the zoo and I was a bit hesistant to go as my memories of the zoo was not that impressive. There were not many animals. Whatever animals there was looked so tired! But a nature-loving friend insisted that I go and visit. I was not disappointed.

I did not know that the zoo was quite a distance! This was before Duke Highway was open. Ben fell alseep during the journey. At last, reach the zoo. Ben still looked half awake....Hahaha!

Hmmmm....what is that animal in the distance??

Hmmm...not very interested in the giraffe....

Snack time...

Let me pose for a picture with the camels....

....the orang utans....

This part is what Ben likes Bestest!!! Feeding the buffaloes .....

Hard at work.........

Buffaloes busy munching away......

Ben having fun with the rest of the kids....the jie jie was kind to Ben as she helped him to pull out the grass from the bundle.

At last, Ben's system is all going and managed to get a picture of him at his best....but it was almsot time to go home....

Asked him to choose a souvenir from the zoo and he choosed this wind mill....look at how happy he is. Of course, the wind mill is now thrown aside...sigh.....no more souvenirs from now onwards.

Overall I am pretty pleased with the zoo. Thinking of visiting it again this holidays. I have yet to visit the other parks which are nearby like the Bird Park. I guess what put me off is having to walk and carry Ben in my arms. At the zoo, there is a train which takes people on a route and drop you off at certain stops. So it will be not stressful for me!

The other vehicle

Besides his bicycle (given by in-laws), we also have this "car" vehicle which I usually keep in my car. He will usually ask for it during our outings to the nearby gardens. However it is getting pretty hot nowadays.

Look! Look! What is that???

Wowwwwwww.......what a nice reflection on the lake.

So with the car, he pulls it sometimes......

.........rides up hills/mountains........

...carries it when he gets tired of riding (which is not often as he will get me to carry it instead!)....
................stop to take a look at ants....
and off we go again!

.......what strong legs he will have!

Amway

Friend C was asking about the Vit C. I do have to dissolve the tablet (which I have to keep in the fridge) into Ben's milk 10 minutes before hand. But of course, I do it in advance by getting ready a bit of water. It is pretty easy. The other one is my Calcium Mag since I dont really like to drink milk.
Not that I am promoting their products but I think so far, the products are pretty good. Prices are not cheap (compared to shelf or super market products) but cheaper than premium products. Like skincare, more expensive than brands on the shelf in the pharmacy but definately cheaper than counter products. The reassurance is that it is made in US of which I think quality should be ok.
Other products like their LOC (which can be used to clean everything) and dishwashing liquid, you can dilute into their squeeze bottle and still does a pretty good job. The plus side is that it is environmental friendly and is also gentle for the hands.

Update on 6 May 2009

I am putting down some of my thoughts on my blog. Friend C said we can see how fast time flies just by looking at past photos of our son....so true!!! Ben has grown up so much. Recently when we went to the clinic for his fever and mouth ulcer, he was already 12.5kg (very heavy for me! haha!) and 87cm for height. Not too bad.

In terms of other development, he is already speaking many words and joining them together. "More biscuits, Another biscuits", etc...and this morning, we parked in front of the roti canai shop and he suddenly said "roti canai"...! wow! that is so great and fascinating.

He seemed to recognise places as well. Today we pass by the church and he started saying "Aunty M", "Aunty M" ....he loves going to playschool which is in the church as there are many toys there.

Of course, this comes with other stuff as well as when we want to take bath for him, he will run around and around and around the house for us to catch him! Pengsan. That part is stressful. And since we live in a condo, when we go out from our house to the car, he does not listen to us and instead runs around. My fear is always of oncoming cars. That is why we got a sort of a dog leash. Better to be safe than sorry, even though we get funny stares at shopping complexes.

Brother, I am not longer going to playschool anymore as afraid of infection. Just thought that the exposure will be good but I guess we can wait until later as it was just too stressful when he is sick! He refuse to take medicine. The last time round, I had to figure out how to "tipu" him to take medicine. First put in yoghurt. Then ice-cream. After that, hub had to force feed down. Sigh, stress, stress and stress.

I took hub, Ben and parents to Raub yesterday to see Uncle KT. It was time for mum's checkup and I took opportunity to get hub to do a medical checkup. Everything seemed to be in order.

This morning, we had a go at the gardens. We did half a round the lake before it got too hot and Ben refuse to move another inch. So I had to carry him back while hub took back the bicycle. Did not bring the camera. After this, no more bringing bicycle out-door anymore. It is just too heavy to carry the bike when Ben refuse to ride it. This is a pict of him on the bike in our house.

My Engine Driver

Thought that I better put up the pictures now before I get too busy again. These are pictures of Ben being a engine driver. You can see him choo-choo-ing with his Thomas and Percy set. I tell you, he knows all the names of the engines from no.1 to 10. My husband and I cannot differentiate between the engines!
For example there are 2 blue engines - Thomas and Gordon. We really could not see the difference until upon close look, you can see the facial expression are different. Thomas is sort of younger while Gordon is older! Ha ha! .......

My Sweety Pie

Sigh, the other day when he was having fever and ulcer, he really drove me nuts! When he woke up, he cry. When he sleep, he cry. At night, he got up crying 4-5 times! I thought of sending him to baby sitter. Until I found out that he was having ulcers. I guess I will cry too if I have ulcers in my mouth. I will be in so bad mood.
Lousy mummy!
After 2 years of taking care of him, I am still so impatient. His crying is really loud and irritating. I guess I just lose it! Sometimes I wish that there was a pill that I could swallow which will turn me into a sweet mother! He He...
Anyway am pretty happy with the speedy recovery for Ben. I believed that it was due to the Amway Chewable Vitamin C. I have tried many other products before but saw the speedy recovery after he took this. But cheapo mummy only give when sick as it is pretty expensive. Sorry baby...I guess I will be investing in more of these in the coming future which will make my Amway distributor, Yvonne, very happy to hear this!

"Tuh Doh"

Been quite some time since I did any posting. Getting lazy and also pretty busy at home. Ben is as usual, pretty active and I tend to take the opportunity when he is asleep to take a nap, get ready dinner or do housework. Just so much to do.

Then I realise, oh wow, it will be almost a month since the last post! Wow, time pass so fast. And it is almost half a year. What have I achieve...? Hmmm....no weight lost and not much time spent with God either. Sigh, there goes resolutions.

Recent developments - swine flu. Pretty scary when you hear about it as it seemed to be a repeat of the SARS a few years ago. I guess that would mean less travelling for everyone. Hong Kong has already confirmed a case. Closer to home, Ben and Jack recently came down with fever but the worse part was that both of them had sores in their mouth. We were really worried that it could be hand and mouth disease which once I goggled on the internet, it seemed it is normal to occur in Sarawak each year during the first half of the year! Why??? Dont know, no one seems to give the explanation. Thankfully, my paed has confirmed that it is not viral and instead it could be because he put his dirty hands into his mouth. Later when I heard that Jack has also developed the same fever and ulcers in the mouth, sigh....it could be from the playschool we are attending. Better news is that as of today, both are doing well. Ben's ulcer are totally heal and as usual, he is still running about.
On a more lighter note, Ben's favourite is tractors or diggers. He has always called them Tuh Doh...and I have been trying to stop by at a nearby construction site to let him have a close look. So here are some of the pictures.
He loves trucks too. Look at him getting so excited and he will scream at the top of his voice "Tuh Doh" , "Tuh Doh".....as you can see, his Thomas train still in his hands......
There you go...the tractor hard at work!
